Professional Care By Caring Professionals Therapeutic Services Neck and back pain often arises from the joints in the spine called facets which will involve the cartilage within the joint and/or the surrounding joint ligaments. The pain can result from injury, arthritis, failed surgery, degenerated disc, malformed joints, scoliosis, muscle spasms or stenosis. Pain can also arise from the Medial Branch Nerve, sometimes referred to at the Dorsal Branch Nerve. This pain can result from nerve injury, irritation, inflammation or as a result of transmitting pain impulses from the spinal facet joints. The procedures we use simply inject medication into the joint or nerve area which is guided by a special x-ray called fluoroscopy. The purpose of the Medial Branch Blocks or Spinal Facet Injections, is to block pain, soften scar tissue to increase mobility and to reduce inflammation.
